Benefits

1. Getting started

Soak bare bulbs in water for 4–6 hours, then nestle them—pointed ends up—among pebbles in a shallow dish. Add water just to the base of the bulbs, keep in a cool, dim spot until roots develop (10–14 days), then move into bright light to force blooms. Check water level regularly, keeping the base just moist.

Pest & Disease

Fly, slugs/snails, and fungal rot—use good drainage and avoid over-watering

Pruning & Deadheading

Pro-Tip to grow and bloom

Apply a balanced 10-10-10 bulb fertilizer once when shoots reach 5 cm, then again at flowering start

Blooming condition

Bright, indirect light or filtered sun; cool room (10–15 °C); consistent moisture at bulb base

Pro-Tip to maintain

After flowering, allow foliage to yellow naturally before discarding; this replenishes bulb reserves
